Thereâs not a big problem between my spouse and me, but my family keeps saying, âSave yourself, find a job,â and so on. Yes, my spouse is a bit controlling, but they love me. Do they want me to get a divorce and stand on my own two feet, or is this truly the right thing to do? What would you do if you were in my shoes?

5What kind of advice is this? Itâs ridiculous for them to annoy you with things like âget divorced, earn your own money.â Youâre saying thereâs no big problem in your marriage, so why is the family getting so involved? Listen to everyoneâs opinions, but ultimately, itâs your life.
I think you clearly need to mention your partner a bit as well. Are you underestimating the issue of control? You say she loves you, but what if love isnât enough? When family says divorce, they immediately become the guilty party, but maybe they see things you arenât aware of? Analyze it a bit without an emotional approach.
The issue of control in marriage is a big topic. If youâre unable to find job opportunities because of someone like that, then this is not an equal relationship. Itâs essential to take steps for work and income freedom. If there is a solution other than divorce, definitely try to discuss it; going to a therapist together might even help.
I want to add that my spouse didnât want me to quit my job; I had already quit due to my familyâs pressure. Now, getting back to work is normally possible, but what my family is saying is confusing me. Outside of control, there isnât any serious fighting, but my family talks so much that Iâve become indecisive.
But the real issue is this: in our society, if a woman works, they question why she is working; if she doesnât, they say she is dependent on her husband; thereâs always something! What do you want? A job? Freedom? We understand family pressure, but is it worth shaking your marriage? If youâre finding a solution, why separation?
