Iāve lost 10 kilos in 4 months because I had health issues. But every time my mom sees me, she says, āYour face is sunken, if you keep this up, youāll get sick.ā The truth is Iām being very careful; Iāve been going through the process with a dietitian. I stay quiet to avoid fighting with my mom, but Iām starting to feel bad about it. Do you think I should listen to my family, or am I doing well like this?

6I also lost weight for a while due to health issues, and my mom made it worse than scolding me. I lost 7 kilos in two months, and my face was pretty sunken, but it wasnāt under dietitian supervision like yours. Maybe the change in your face scared her; make sure to explain to her well that there are no other health problems.
So how much weight have you lost in total over the last 4 months? You said 10 kilos, but did you start off too quickly in the first 1-2 months? You know how sometimes dietitians can make mistakes, right? I would suggest checking it again. Maybe your body is reacting too strongly ![]()
Ah, families⦠My friendās mom keeps making comments like, āAre those pants too loose for you?ā whenever he loses weight. I think you should stick with the dietitian; your mom will get used to it after a while ![]()
Donāt you just hate that phrase from mothers, āyouāll get sickā? It really gets to you. When I heard something like āyouāll see your bonesā, I was literally scared to look in the mirror. Donāt worry, if youāre progressing healthily, these reactions will lessen over time ![]()
I forgot to add, at first I felt really exhausted, but my doctor said it was a ānormal adaptation process.ā Now my energy is better, and Iāve increased my workouts to three times a week. I canāt seem to explain myself to my mom; I hear her say that my face has āsunkā every day now.
I donāt think the motherās concern is unreasonable. Losing weight can change facial features due to fat loss, which can sometimes create an overly tired appearance. But if youāre working with a dietitian, your blood values and vitamins are probably being monitored; if there are no issues, you could try to reassure your mother. Itās normal for her to be anxious.
