My friends are saying ādonāt push your luck,ā but Iām thinking to myself, āI only get to buy it once after all.ā Do you think I should go for my dream dress or stick to a sensible option?

To be frank, two salaries shouldnāt be spent on a dress. Itās illogical. I mean, youāre going to wear it only once after all; wouldnāt it be more sensible to spend that money on a vacation or save it? Is it really worth going into debt for?
I donāt know your budget, but thereās something called the ā1-month income ruleā for expenses. Itās recommended that if youāre buying a luxury item, it shouldnāt exceed one monthās salary. If you really want to buy it, stay away from things like installment debt ā that stress can be very draining.
I am reading your comments, thank you all. Let me add this: This wedding is the first time in years I will see my closest friend and many mutual acquaintances. Thatās why Iāve been so preoccupied with it; I donāt see it as something ordinary.
Now I understand better. But you still need to think logically. The people at that wedding wonāt even remember the dress a week later. Are you going to wear it for yourself, or for their approval? Just give it a thought.
Well Seda, will you have a chance to assess the dress in another way later on? For example, by altering it a bit to wear it to different events or combining it with different accessories. If itās not just a one-time use, maybe you can digest the money you spent a bit better.
