I confess, I’ve been seriously considering checking out brand accessories lately and buying the knockoff versions. But I don’t want to feel ashamed of the label just because something is cheap. Do you think this is right? Can everyone be stylish according to their budget, or is it a must to buy the original? After all, we all copy from somewhere, right?
I went through something similar too. Last year, I bought a knockoff of a bag I really liked, and the price was incredibly affordable. At first, there was no problem, but after 2-3 weeks, the zipper broke, and the fabric started to peel noticeably. On top of that, when someone asked me, ‘Is this original?’ I wanted to disappear. To be honest, while trying to save money, I ended up losing even more. My advice is to buy less, but quality, and use it for a long time.
From a legal perspective, purchasing counterfeit products can lead to issues for both the buyer and the seller in the eyes of the law. In fact, original brands can even file tort claims against individuals who buy counterfeit products. Additionally, the economic sustainability and environmental impacts of these counterfeit goods are also contentious. The main issue is whether these products are truly more cost-effective in the long run. It’s important to conduct thorough research and consider the quality of the product and its ethical dimensions.
Let’s be honest now, they say everyone is as stylish as their budget, but why the obsession? Brands are already copying each other. Does buying a counterfeit product strip away our humanity just because of the label? Sorry, but this is just societal pressure. If we like it, what difference does it make? We just use it.
I’ll add that some of my friends around me also use these knock-off products and they don’t feel any trouble at all. But when I wear them, I can’t help but think ‘will everyone notice?’ I guess I haven’t found my own comfort yet. It’s more about ‘the person I appear to be,’ I suppose.
I think this is all about show-off. In our neighborhood, people pay attention to things like that. If you get caught with a fake product, they’ll immediately throw shade and say, ‘Why didn’t you buy the original?’ If you really can’t afford it, it’s better to be simple and clean. No one is perfect, but being honest is important.
