Did I secretly raid the pantry because I couldn't resist the hunger crisis?

I’m on a diet, or at least trying to be… But last night, just before bed, I was hit by an incredible hunger. I got up and rummaged through the pantry, ate a pack of wafers and some leftover rice. Now I’m literally writhing with regret. Am I that weak-willed, or does everyone have moments like this? My question is: do we count this as breaking my diet, or should I just start fresh again?

I remember when I was on a diet, I would get up at night and spread some tomato paste on bread and eat it. You just can’t resist that sudden feeling of hunger… But let me put it this way, instead of worrying about it because it happened once, you just pay a bit more attention the next day, and it’s over.

I don’t think eating the rice is the problem, but the wafer part is a hassle. The sugar factor definitely gets you into that cycle. If you could have just held your willpower there, you wouldn’t be feeling this regret, right? :slightly_smiling_face:

Everyone experiences nights like this during a diet. The main issue here is to examine the reason behind it. For example, are you able to get enough protein and healthy carbohydrates during the day? If not, it will reflect on the night. If you’re leaning towards quick sugars like wafers, this could also be a sign that you’re not eating balanced.

I wasn’t expecting so many replies, I read them all. You’re right about the wafer part, that’s where my regret lies. But I don’t understand why I ate the rice so cold, my mind just stopped at that moment :woman_shrugging:

I noticed something: what did you eat before going to bed that made you feel so hungry during the night? These kinds of cravings usually happen after eating either too little or unbalanced meals. Was there a deficiency there, perhaps?

Doing things like this without support and pushing yourself alone leads to this outcome. Our mothers used to lose weight by eating a little bit of everything in moderation. Now, everyone pressures themselves to follow this trend, and then we end up raiding the pantry when we can’t take it anymore.

Isn’t the comment “you ate the rice cold” really silly? As if warming up the rice wouldn’t affect the diet. The whole point here is willpower; it’s your control that leads to the rice, hot or cold doesn’t matter.
