I’ve been counting every bite officially for the last two months… But on the other hand, I find myself asking, ‘Am I normal?’ because I haven’t seen anyone around me who keeps such detailed counts. Do you think this is healthy, or is it just a fixation? Should I maybe stop at some point?

9I used to be like that in college too, even when going out to eat with friends, I would call and text. Looking back now, I think it was a bit exhausting. But still, it might be sensible for a while for weight control.
I tried it last summer but quit after two weeks because it really started to cut me off from social life. You can’t go out and eat something properly. Now I just follow it occasionally and manage to get out of it.
But why did you go into so much detail? You say you don’t see it around you, so it seems like you’re the only one who cares this much. Why are you putting yourself under so much stress? That might be the real problem.
I want to ask you something, have you lost weight in this past month, or have you stayed the same? I mean, if the calculations are working, it might be healthy, right?
Counting calories isn’t actually a bad thing, but as you said, if it turns into an obsession, it could be a problem. If you can’t cope with it on your own, consulting a dietitian could help create a more manageable plan.
Update: Friends, yes I’ve lost weight, but it feels like I’ll gain it back immediately if I keep behaving so undisciplined. Also, I don’t feel comfortable; my mind is constantly preoccupied.
I think you might have been influenced by something you saw on social media or maybe someone around you hinted at it, even if they didn’t say it directly. Because usually, such things start from an external influence.
You don’t need to put so much pressure on your body because of others’ opinions or societal pressures. If you’re doing it for yourself, that’s fine, but I would advise you to avoid such things just to conform to societal beauty standards. ![]()
If you go into so much detail, the people around you will get uncomfortable too. If someone starts counting their bites during a meal, it ruins the flavor. There should be a measure for everything; it’s important not to overdo it ![]()
