We forgot to protect ourselves in the first attempt, now

I'm really embarrassed, but this is the first time it's happened and we skipped protection. Should I go to a doctor right away or is getting the morning-after pill from the pharmacy enough? Does anyone have experience with this?

I had the same experience on my first try, we forgot to use protection, and I took the morning-after pill the very next day. There was no issue, but the woman at the pharmacy said, "this shouldn't be used regularly, it's for emergencies." I can definitely say that going to the pharmacy is a sure solution.

To be honest, it seems like there's something else going on here. If you're saying it's your first experience, why are you in such a hurry? At least you're thinking and looking for a solution, but I think you should talk to the person in front of you; this is not how things should be done.

The morning-after pill is generally effective within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. However, it does not provide complete protection. If you're unsure or if your period is delayed, it's advisable to see a gynecologist.

Update: I went to the pharmacy and got the morning-after pill, but I felt a bit nauseous. I guess that's normal; the pharmacist said it could be a side effect. Still, I'm a bit scared for a while; I'm worried about the delay in my period.

The main issue here is why this responsibility falls solely on you. Whether it's the first experience or not, protection is a shared obligation. It's also necessary to question the knowledge and interest of the person in front of you regarding this matter.
