Lately, I’ve been feeling inadequate while looking at diet accounts on Instagram. Everyone is sharing beautiful food they’ve made, but what I eat feels very ordinary. To be honest, these comparisons are really demotivating for me. I wonder how the achievements of others affect me?
I think social media is already a very wrong world ![]()
I had the same issue. At one point, everyone was putting sweet treats on the table, and I felt guilty for just eating bread at breakfast. Then I stopped following it and relaxed.
But doesn’t it inspire you at all? Are you only negatively affected?
@yazipsildim actually, I do come up with nice ideas from time to time, but overall it creates a perception that everyone has to do everything perfectly ![]()
What you call perfection is just a filter, lighting, doing it ten times, and so on. In real life, when you eat those highly praised dishes, it feels oddly deflating.
I might have a direct suggestion for you. Why not try a social media detox every once in a while? Taking a break from regular monitoring might help you understand a bit more.
@pazardandondum exactly, and some also share the same dish from different angles for a week, as if it was just made.
Maybe it’s more useful to just save the recipes instead of the dishes and add them to your to-make list. Looking at it from an idea-focused perspective might reduce that pressure instead of focusing on photos. Have you ever tried it?
