What does my colleague's dismissal mean?

Something very unexpected happened at work today. My closest friend was fired without any reason given. It was a big shock for me because we were working very closely together. Now, what should I do in his place? Should I share it on social media or talk to my boss? I’m really confused.

that happened very quickly.

Did they really not provide any reason at all? This kind of thing doesn’t usually happen.

@kahvebitmeden said that it was “due to restructuring.” They didn’t say anything else.

I think it’s an incident related to the boss. They might know something special or have done something wrong; there definitely must be another situation at play.

@soncaykaldi is everyone being fired just because they must have done something? Sometimes there’s downsizing, it’s the company’s decision.

In such situations, terminating without a valid reason is actually illegal; there shouldn’t be any issues with notice or severance pay. However, if there is a situation that could lead to legal action, consult an expert.

It’s hard to get over someone leaving the workplace so suddenly. The day it happened to a friend of mine, I didn’t even want to go to work. It’s normal to feel this way.

I think you should talk to the boss, but writing something on social media doesn’t make sense; it could get you into trouble.

Talking to the boss is actually risky, as it can be perceived as implying something. Were there any gestures or attitudes indicating someone else in the environment? Maybe there’s someone else in line.

If the company isn’t making a clear statement, the excuse of “restructuring” is usually either a budget cut or a move to change internal balances. Could it be a situation where the boss wants to bring someone new into the loop, have you noticed that?
