Our dress code at work changed suddenly. Apparently, we need to wear more formal clothes now, but I got used to dressing comfortably for my job. I don’t know what to do; I wonder if there are other reasons behind this?
I need to cope with the stress, but I’m also afraid I’ll struggle financially.
The same thing happened to us during the full salary period. They said it was official attire, then they started doing inspections once a month to see who complied. I resisted for a month or two, but then I realized it wasn’t working, so like a loyal customer, I got caught up in Zara ![]()
It’s strange that it happens all of a sudden, is it related to the industry? For example, if it’s consultancy, it might make sense for them to get into professionalism.

I really don’t appreciate being judged based on a professional appearance. Does a suit change the world? I care about the work, not the outfit.
The dress code policy should generally align with the company culture. If it is not a common expectation in the industry or has been defined very narrowly, it may be beneficial to discuss this with upper management.
Who is the boss that we should dress according to their mood, that’s ridiculous.

Maybe the new manager is trying to make a first impression, which is why they’ve gone all out on their appearance. But is this something that will last in the long run, or is there a “transition period” vibe? Because if people can’t keep up with this pace, I think everyone’s morale will drop ![]()
