I need to see a gynecologist but I'm really embarrassed

I've been having an itching and burning sensation down below for a while now, and I probably got an infection, but the thought of going to the doctor is really stressing me out. I'm honestly also afraid my mom will find out. I have no idea how to make an appointment or what to say. Has anyone else gone through this? Do they ask a lot of questions during the examination, or is it painful? I'm curious, please give me some advice.
