The other day, my boss called me and said that I need to work 60 hours a week. He also mentioned that he wouldn’t be offering any extra pay for such long hours. I’m already struggling to keep my head above water; what kind of practice is this? I’m afraid of losing my job if I don’t accept, but if I do, I’ll feel like I’m working for nothing. What do you think should be done?
That’s not possible. Working 60 hours a week? That’s a whole lot of extra work outside of regular hours. The law already states it’s 45 hours.
I also said yes to something like this back in the day, and then my whole life became work. I was using the house like a hotel, but I didn’t have a penny to spare. Exploitation is nothing else.
Did you say boss? Or have you not decided yet?
@kirmizikazak I haven’t said anything definite yet, but I’m afraid I’ll get fired.
60 hours is normal in some sectors. According to the employer, are you afraid because of that? Is there any bonus besides the salary? You haven’t written it clearly.
Legally, your employer cannot force you to work more than 45 hours. They must provide extra payment for 60 hours. Explore various legal avenues; you can file a complaint with SGK, but of course, your job may be at risk.
Then no one is thinking about this worker; everything benefits the employer.
@bugun_degil you wrote normal in some sectors, but which sector is this? Aren’t we human after all?
