My girlfriend says she has been dieting for a week, and we’ve even stopped eating sweets together. Last night, I heard a noise while she was asleep; she was rummaging in the cupboard. In the morning, I saw she had eaten half of the cake in the fridge. When I asked her about it, she first tried to defend herself, then said, ‘It doesn’t count because it was at night.’ Can she achieve results with such a loose discipline?

6I just don’t get this stuff anymore. What is it, for God’s sake, to say you’re on a diet and then jump into sweets at night? In the past, when people committed to something, they really put their heart and soul into it, and they did it to avoid causing issues for their loved ones. Nowadays, in relationships, everyone is so relaxed, there’s no effort. Plus, it’s actually unfair to you; you’ve given up sweets just to accommodate them.
I was wondering. Why did you both stop eating sweets? I mean, did you not eat either because of their diet? I think it wouldn’t be a problem to eat separately, but if it’s a sacrifice for each other, you need to have a serious talk about this action.
@mesafe_emekci actually, these things happen all the time. It’s not the first time they aren’t eating sweets at night, I ignored the others but this time I got really angry because they promised me. In the past, there were other things they didn’t keep their promises on.
@romantik_nostaljik I disagree. A person can be weak, they can make mistakes, but the problem is not being honest. I also made sacrifices in my previous relationship, but I always gave of myself. Now I see that back then, it was necessary to talk about these things from the start and draw a line. Maybe you pushed yourself too hard.
But I think you should speak frankly. Diet discipline is a personal thing, but lying has become the spice of the matter. If they are getting professional support, like a dietitian or something, they should discuss these things with their doctor. Eating sweets at night, for example, could be related to blood sugar imbalances. But the main issue is trust; if you can’t get past that, it will be a problem.
@pratik no, it’s not about being sweet or anything. It’s not just the woman’s issue with discipline because the man is manipulating his partner. What does the phrase ‘it doesn’t count from the night before’ even mean? Is it funny? If there’s no mutual trust, then the diet is just a story; he needs to fix the relationship first.
