My partner says there's no risk after a shower, is that true?

When I was talking to my girlfriend about this, she said something like, “If we take a shower, the risk will be zero, so don’t worry.” It didn’t seem logical to me, but she’s very sure. Honestly, I’m not sure if we have the right information about protection. Is it really possible for things like this to happen, or is it a completely wrong belief? Can someone who knows explain it?

That “if we take a shower, the risk is zero” saying is really wrong. I mean, taking a shower doesn’t eliminate the risk of pregnancy. Once sperm leaves the body, it becomes ineffective in a short time, but that’s not true for every surface it touches. I think you should talk to your partner again and learn about contraception methods correctly together.

I’ve heard something like this before; ‘if you clean with water in the shower, everything will be fine.’ But that’s not true at all. A woman’s biology doesn’t just close up when she’s washed with water, after all. Don’t let these kinds of myths confuse you :slightly_smiling_face:

What kind of logic is this, really? Can there be such a thing as “if we take a shower, there won’t be any problems”? I don’t understand where people hear such things. Just ask a doctor, don’t take risks with matters like these.

Rumors about the risk of pregnancy after a shower are completely false. Due to their structure, sperm can survive for a certain period in moist and warm environments. Taking a shower, especially if sperm has reached the internal organs, does not eliminate the risk. Use proper protection methods and do not neglect your regular health check-ups.

Thanks for the comments, friends. I want to add this; I got a little worried when my boyfriend spoke so confidently. He’s a bit panicked too because we don’t want a child. I think we need to get the right information from the doctor, because our heads are really confused.

This situation seems very strange to me. Has there been anyone around you who could have said “that’s okay” to what your lover said? Because there’s a bit of a weird kind of confidence. I don’t think this is right, and I would say you should do a bit of research and educate each other, but first, they need to let go of that know-it-all attitude.

I want to add something; unfortunately, most men can believe in things like “water cleans them” or “there’s no problem after urination.” But the issue here is a lack of information. I think you should communicate well to make him sensitive to these matters. Taking a shower is not the solution; learn how to protect yourselves properly together.
