My partner said "lemon juice preserves" — should I take them seriously?

Really, guys, is this even possible? We were talking about protection last night, and he seriously mentioned lemon juice. I don't know if it was a joke, but his facial expression didn't seem like a joke at all. I never trust stuff like this from the internet, but do you think this is normal information? Or is he just messing around?

I swear, sister, don't believe in things like this. In the past, people used to use vinegar and stuff for birth control, but these can be harmful. Don't fall into societal myths; things like this shouldn't be done without consulting a doctor.

Actually, they say that lemon juice used to be a proper method. I don't have any scientific evidence, but I think it might not be just nonsense. After all, it's something natural.. 🥲

What kind of logic is this? Is everything used just because it's natural? The lemon juice thing isn't right; is it really that hard to research this? You're driving me crazy 🙄

A friend once told me, 'No, sir, lemon juice kills sperm.' I swear I was in shock; are they still seriously discussing this?

Let me add this, he says he heard it from somewhere but there's no source or anything. He spoke so seriously that I couldn't tell if he was joking or being serious. It's strange that things like this still circulate from mouth to mouth.

When it comes to protection, the first place you should turn to is an obstetrician or a family health center. There is no scientific data that lemon juice is effective; it can even cause irritation. Use reliable methods, don't trust such things.

In the past, people might have done such things because they couldn't find another solution. But discussing these things now is even ridiculous. They are both a health risk and wrong in the eyes of society 🙄

You've really dragged the question out, huh? At the beginning, you said, "was it a joke?" but you've discussed it quite seriously in the details. I think you should solve your partner's confusion by suggesting a doctor, but I believe it was a joke.
