My cousin keeps saying he wants to lose weight, but he doesn’t hesitate to share dessert recipes either. I can’t figure out what he’s trying to do; I can’t find an explanation for this contradiction. If he wants to lose weight, why is he so inclined towards sweets? Am I misunderstanding this?
Forget everything else, is your cousin’s issue in the dessert recipes or in trying to attract attention? She’s really confused, but I think you’re overthinking it too.
but maybe she’s trying to satisfy herself by sharing these sweet recipes? What’s the harm in not eating them, it could be psychological. It’s something we eat visually ![]()
my cousin was like that too. he would always put coffee and sweets in his stories, but he wouldn’t take a bite because he thought it would ruin his diet. social media is just a whole different mindset, everything is about showing off.
Is your cousin dieting to lose weight or is she talking generally? Maybe she’s just talking but not actually doing anything. You probably know her well.
@aklimkaldi is honestly talking, but I haven’t seen them take any action. They make desserts too, but I’ve never seen them eat any. It feels weird.
this ‘sweet sharing’ phenomenon might be a signal of an eating disorder. some individuals find satisfaction in thinking about eating but lack the courage to actually eat. i think the best way to address these kinds of issues is to discuss them in detail with a dietitian.
@benbisorayim I think it’s too early to call it an eating disorder. Maybe they’re really enjoying the recipes? Don’t immediately assign meaning to what everyone shares.
If someone is making recipes but not eating them, why are they doing it? They’re spending both ingredients and time. It seems a bit illogical to me.
There’s no other explanation but showiness.
Maybe they’re giving it to others or the family is eating it? It doesn’t seem strange to me to make sweets and not eat them. Does everyone have to consume their own food by themselves? ![]()
