Could craving sweet foods be a sign of illness?

My sweet cravings are seriously making my life difficult. In the evenings, I constantly want to eat chocolate or something sweet. I'm trying to diet but I can't manage it. A friend of mine said this could be related to vitamin deficiency or insulin resistance. How true do you think that is? Am I just lacking willpower, or is there a real health issue?

I have the same thing, especially in the evenings my body literally screams chocolate. I got a test done, and it showed insulin resistance. If that's the case, it's not something you can solve with a diet; I'd suggest going to the doctor directly.

It's so hard to hold back in that moment. I especially get crazy sweet cravings right before my period. I found out I have a vitamin D deficiency, and after I started supplementing, it decreased a bit, but of course, it didn't go away completely.

But this fondness for sweets feels a bit like a habit to me. I mean, not everything is a disease; sometimes we let sweets into our lives too much. For example, have you ever tried to stop keeping chocolate at home? 😬

Sugar cravings can sometimes really indicate a health issue. Especially, symptoms of insulin resistance can manifest as intense sugar cravings in the evening. You should go to an endocrinologist to get tested and discuss this with a dietitian.

Let me update you, I also feel a bit dizzy in the mornings and I sense low energy. I relate this sweet thing to some stress, but I haven't figured it out. My mom always believes that I can't go without sweets, but I'm still skeptical.

My dear, we always say, 'if you're eating something sweet, you're probably calling your enemy.' The body actually gives signals, and it's important to analyze them well. In the past, there weren't such habits; we need to return to what was eaten and what was done back then.

I don't think this is just stress or a habit. You're also adding dizziness in the morning. I don't know, but it might be something psychological as well. I mean, could it be that you're always trying to comfort yourself with something?

I'm done with those who say stress! They link everything directly to stress. You're seriously saying you're on a diet but have never had any tests done. To rule out health issues, you need to see a doctor first, then you can consider stress.

Make an appointment with endocrinology directly, request a fasting blood sugar and insulin test. If there are any issues, you'll need to continue with a dietitian. If not, you can keep track of whether it coincides with your menstrual period. Write it down somewhere.
