Dressing affordably or falling victim to fashion?

Girls, I’m still wearing the coat I bought last winter, but a friend of mine basically threw shade by saying, “You should wear different things every season.” Do we really have to constantly buy new stuff? Is it logical to stretch the budget while following fashion trends, or should we make the most of what we already have? What do you do in these situations?

I think the most logical thing to do is to evaluate what we have. If the coat looks good, why should we change it? Besides, winter clothes are very expensive. For example, I had my boots from last year polished, and they look brand new.

Your friend has made a snide remark, but you’re writing this because you care about it, aren’t you? There might be some truth in the saying that different things are worn each season. People dress in various ways; it wouldn’t hurt for you to follow the trends a little.

Frankly, constantly keeping up with fashion trends can surpass your budget. Especially outerwear should be considered a long-term investment. According to women’s clothing statistics, an average coat can last 5-7 years. But maintenance is important; for example, is it dry cleaned?

Some friends have written about the trending topic, so let me add that: My budget isn’t excessively limited, but the idea of constantly buying new things every season seems a bit challenging to me. It feels more practical to make the most of what I have, yet I don’t want to completely disconnect from fashion either.

Saying that you should wear different things every season feels a bit like consumer pressure. Because of these words, many women are forced to spend without considering their own effort or budget. I think we should ask ourselves who we’re doing this for. If you love fashion, do it for yourself, regardless of what others say.
