Job offer abroad but my girlfriend isn't letting me go

Guys, I got an amazing job offer from abroad, it comes with a huge salary difference and it would be a significant step in my career. But my girlfriend says, 'If you go, the relationship is over.' So I don’t want to leave her and go, but I'm not sure if I'll get a chance like this again. What should I do?

Honestly, my daughter, there is something being imposed on you in this situation. 'If you leave, that relationship is over.' This is a completely controlling sentence. Relationships should be based on equality, not compromise. Whether you leave or stay, the way it's being discussed is problematic from the start.

But I think this is completely about what you want. Does that job make you happy? I mean, your partner is against it, but at the end of the day, if you reject it, will it be because of their wishes or your own indecision? Honestly answer this 😂

But don't you think you should consider the value of your current relationship a little? I mean, okay, you say work is important, but can you truly enjoy it if you don't have a partner? You can earn money, build a career, but when you look back, won't you wish you had done things differently?

In such situations, communication and value priorities in relationships should be discussed. In other words, have you expressed why your partner is speaking so harshly about this? Career choices are individual, but evaluating your relationship with a counselor can be beneficial.

Friends, thank you for the comments. I should also add that when I said I wanted to go, they told me, 'If you love me, you would give up this offer.' So, comparing love and career in such a context felt a bit strange to me.

It feels like you're taking this personally. Sit down and talk openly. For example, highlight the duration of the place you're considering going to, like saying, 'This is just for 2 years, then I'll be back.' It might make things a bit easier.

Dude, I once experienced something similar too. They said, 'You want me, but you're sacrificing for me' or something like that. Man, these are all just tactics. That work life won't stick around when opportunities slip away, so I say focus on your career 🙄

'I don't understand why you're insisting this much,' and even if you try to close the topic, hopefully it will be the right step. Still, if you feel uncomfortable.
