I'm stuck between pickles and chocolate in the hunger crisis

Friends, I’ve been tracking calories for a while now, but these hunger crises are killing me. Especially at night, I feel like I’m literally at war with the kitchen. Sometimes I crave something sweet, and other times I want to binge on salty snacks like chips. What do you think I should do in this situation? I feel like I’m losing the battle with myself; do you have any suggestions?

I sometimes experience the same thing. Usually, I have a sweet craving at night, and in that moment, I eat a teaspoon of honey to handle it. It satisfies the sweet craving, and you don’t consume a lot of calories.

If you want chips, it might be a salt deficiency. I had times like that too; I went to a doctor, and my magnesium was low. Maybe you should get a test done?

Honestly, I felt like you were kind of giving up a bit. I mean, as soon as you go to the kitchen at night, you know your intention; why do you never say stop? I think it’s completely a habit.

Hunger crises can actually be caused by unstable blood sugar levels. If you add a bit of protein and healthy fats to your last meal at night, it will reduce the likelihood of a crisis; I recommend giving this a try. But for a definitive solution, consulting a dietitian is essential.

Yes, you’re right. I actually crave something sweet every now and then, but generally I think I want chips or something salty. I’m working a lot during the day and can’t arrange to eat in the evening. Could that be why?

I think this is not just related to the crisis; there seems to be a state of weariness as well. Are you having trouble concentrating in the mornings? Fatigue or some other trigger could be the cause.
