I want to establish my own routine now. I’m 26 years old, I have a job, but my parents keep saying, “You’re a girl, what are you doing living alone?” It’s like they’re really restricting my life because of this. Every day the same arguments, the same noise, I’m really tired of it. Is there no way to convince them, or should I just handle everything secretly? I’m really at a dead end.
I experienced the same thing; there was a lot of fighting and noise in my case too. At 26, while I had my job and responsibilities, I secretly rented a place and moved my belongings, but they accepted it only then—things just don’t work out any other way.
So does your mom say the “you’re just a girl” line, or is your dad on the same page? I mean, when you have things to do, they can’t really stop you financially, but how exactly do they apply psychological pressure? Can you explain a bit more?
