My spouse keeps turning their phone upside down, should I trust them?

Recently, my spouse hardly ever leaves their phone behind and keeps turning it upside down. I can’t tell if they’re hiding something or if I’m being paranoid. Does this behavior seem normal to you, or should I talk to them?

I had a similar situation too. My spouse was constantly hiding their phone, especially leaving it face down on the table when we were eating. I asked directly, at first they hesitated, but then they said they were chatting with a woman from work. I think it’s better to talk openly; uncertainty is worse.

Constantly blaming your partner is not the right approach. Just because they turn their phone face down doesn’t necessarily mean they’re hiding something bad. Perhaps you’ve been acting suspiciously too, and that’s bothered him. I suggest you first reflect on your own behavior.

This situation can have multiple meanings. Your partner may be trying to create a personal space for themselves, or there might genuinely be something that warrants your suspicion. But instead of approaching it with bias, try to speak calmly and without accusations first. If you talk in a sincere atmosphere without putting pressure, it will be healthier.

I want to add that I actually thought about asking my spouse directly, but I’m hesitant because what if they get upset or deny it? Also, they always have their phone with them, even take it to the bathroom. I’m confused, how should I start the conversation?

Taking it to the bathroom is really confusing. Just seeing that moment tightens your stomach, and you don’t even know what to think. But this uncertainty is even worse. After all, you live in the same house with him, and it seems like there’s no way to resolve the issues you’re having with him other than talking.

As a bisexual man, let me say this: it may not always be as it appears. Putting the phone down face down or carrying it with you can sometimes just be about wanting to protect yourself from everything. However, if there really is an issue, he needs to consider your feelings; you should express this to him openly.

I swear this is very suspicious. It’s okay that he always has it with him, but carrying it to the bathroom is extra weird. I think there’s definitely some kind of message situation going on, or something else… Just be a bit careful while talking, but it feels like something is going on right under your nose.

Yeah, exactly, my spouse was also doing the same things for a while. They wouldn’t even put down their bag. Then I realized that they actually went through a period where they couldn’t trust anyone, it was related to their work stress. But if you can’t shake off the idea that something might be secret, you can’t solve it without talking.
