My spouse using an unlocked phone

My spouse is quite active on social media and has no password on their phone. At first, it seemed like a sign of trust to me, but lately, notifications keep coming in, sometimes even late at night. A couple of times out of curiosity, I took a glance and didn’t find anything, but I still feel uncomfortable. Do you think I’m justified in feeling indifferent or suspicious, or am I overreacting?

Oh dear, my spouse used to be just like that. They wouldn’t put a password on their phone, and tons of messages would come through. One day I couldn’t take it anymore, so I talked to them. Turns out, they were getting constant messages from work. So just talk it out; it will put your mind at ease

Let me be clear, if you’re uncomfortable, you definitely need to talk about it. Say something like, ‘I get late messages at night and I’m curious about it.’ But don’t assume that something is going to come of it. Just be straightforward

Hearing that notification sound late at night really gives you chills, doesn’t it? Especially not being able to find anything makes it even worse. But you know, if you let your mind get bogged down with such worries about the relationship, it’s not good. Have you ever tried talking about it directly?

So why are you still bothered when you can’t find something? You already knew from the start that the guy is active on social media, right? That’s the transparency you’re talking about. Are you digging too much? :grimacing:

Honestly, I think transparency is important among spouses, but everyone should have their limits. Constant notifications come in, you keep checking and so on… These all disrupt family order. I think you shouldn’t overthink it, and don’t disturb your home.

To be honest, excessive notifications can affect relationship dynamics. But when it comes to boundaries, every couple draws a different line in transparency. If you’re feeling uncomfortable, it’s helpful to communicate clearly and establish a compromise.

Let me also say that my spouse was never really into these kinds of things before. They started to be active on social media in the past year or two. Would it be an exaggeration if I say this and express a bit more of my discomfort?

Look, men think very simply. If he doesn’t put a password on it, he probably doesn’t have a hidden agenda. As for notifications, sometimes social media really gets to a person and they can’t stop. If you have something serious, I definitely suggest you talk about it.
