I'm just now realizing that my ex was gaslighting me

It feels like I’ve been living in a lie for the past two years; every time we argued, he found a way to make me feel guilty, really made me doubt myself. Now we’ve broken up, but he still enters my dreams, and honestly, I haven’t been able to shake off this feeling of worthlessness. How did you get through this process? Do you have any advice? I feel like I’ve truly settled into this sensation of being incomplete without him.

I’ve experienced the same thing; I literally lost my confidence by the end of those two years. That feeling of inadequacy actually comes from the fact that the person manipulates you and makes you forget your own identity, honestly. Their entering your dreams is really a situation stemming from your brain still not being able to escape that guilt psychology.

being found guilty in every argument literally fries your brain, and at some point, you start doubting your own memory. When you wake up from those dreams, to shake off that heavy feeling of worthlessness, you need to just get out of bed and engage with something; otherwise, that sense of incompleteness ruins your whole day.

That feeling of inadequacy is actually due to the way that person manipulates you and makes you forget your own personality. Honestly, the fact that they invade your dreams is mainly because your mind is still unable to break free from that guilt psychology.
