Should I get cosmetic surgery? I can't decide.

Recently, my friends keep telling me that I should get cosmetic surgery. I can’t make sense of it while considering this. There’s nothing wrong with my face, but I’m thinking about doing it because of their pressure. Do you think this is the right decision?

I once got my nose done because I was influenced by my friends. Then I realized that, in fact, no one really cared that much. I thought, if I’m happy with myself, why did I get influenced?

When you say ā€œfriends,ā€ are 2-3 people constantly saying it, or is it being said as a group? Who is specifically saying this?

Generally, 3-4 people from my close circle say this, constantly making remarks like ā€˜make a change.’ They claim they are saying it for my own good.

@aklimkaldi for goodness sake? I think they are being ridiculous, calling it goodness. No one looks in the mirror as much as you do, never mind it

Aesthetic surgeons generally don’t recommend things that will disrupt the integrity of the face; if you really want to do it, you would first have a detailed analysis done with a good doctor, and if they see no need, they’ll tell you.

I don’t think it’s necessary at all.

@hatconene it seems like everyone knows themselves extremely well, as if being convinced might take some time.

Before you proceed, do you really want this, or are you thinking about it because of pressure from others? Just make up your mind about that. The rest will be easy.

I think you should consider this too: Is there a chance you’ll regret not going for it? Because sometimes, the things you genuinely want but don’t have the courage to pursue can get mixed up with other people’s opinions. So, it’s not enough to simply desire something independently; you also need to be sure that you don’t want it.

How disturbed are you by this situation? Is there something physically or socially blocking you, or did you start noticing because of other people’s comments? Because the phrase ā€œmake a changeā€ might come from a very superficial place.

The word ā€œchangeā€ is really annoying, and it’s normal for it to confuse you when you hear it all the time. But the real question is: do you actually feel like you want a ā€œchangeā€ in your life, or are you just influenced by it being thrown around? In other words, would you even think that there was a need for such a thing if no one were interfering?

There’s this too: Even if you’re thinking about going through with it, does the change process bother you? I mean, can you handle things like swelling, the recovery period, etc.? Because it’s not just about the result; you need to be at peace with the process too
