Last night we were watching a movie. Suddenly, she laughed, pointing at her feet, and said, ‘These are the sacred cornerstones of our home…’ I laughed at that moment, but when I thought about it later, I felt quite uncomfortable, because we share the sofa. She does this all the time, but is she joking, or what kind of comfort is this? Do you think this is just a matter of getting used to it, or should I talk to her?

5Classic roommate issues, right? Our old roommate used to stretch his feet on the coffee table while eating. It was both annoying and made no sense. I directly told him about it, but he brushed it off saying it was just a habit, yet he eventually stopped.
I have a question: is the sofa old or new? Or is it going barefoot around the house? That’s important too, because some people behave more comfortably with older model sofas.
@kahvebitmeden the couch isn’t old, we bought it new about 6 months ago. But we walk around the house in slippers or just in socks.
@soncaykaldi this situation isn’t ‘classic,’ right? I mean, aren’t you exaggerating by normalizing the conversation? No one wants someone else’s foot on their couch; that’s disrespectful 
Boundaries must be clear in a shared life. You’re staying quiet because you think your intentions aren’t serious, but this discomfort will grow. Bring it up casually during a little moment, like saying, ‘I want to say that I don’t like this,’ while sitting down. Someone who does this constantly might not even be aware of it.
