I recently started sharing an apartment with a student. At first, we got along well, but then I noticed that when I’m not in my room, they’re looking at my books and going through my drawers. I told them clearly that I was uncomfortable, but they said, ‘I was just curious,’ and didn’t seem to care. I don’t want to always be on edge; how can I handle this?

9I experienced the same thing. My old roommate used to rummage through my closet, trying on my shoes, and when I realized it, a fight broke out. I don’t think this will end here; if you don’t trust them, either talk openly again or move out. ![]()
How did you notice that you were rummaging through the drawer? For example, had the arrangement changed or was something missing? ![]()
yes, my special notebook was taken from its place and put somewhere else. I could say I caught them doing it directly.
@kirmizikazak I think you’re exaggerating. After all, they just looked at the books, is it the same as wearing shoes? We can’t kick everyone out for small things.
this directly infringes on personal privacy. In legal terms, it’s referred to as interference with private life, and if it continues, you may need to gather evidence. But first, try having a serious conversation.
There are so many topics, yet everyone keeps asking the same thing. If you’re in the same house, either keep complaining or come up with a solution, otherwise the same thing just keeps going around.
I would say get out, this won’t work otherwise.
@iki_dakika, it’s all fine, but if everyone is going to file lawsuits, then no one can stay in the same house anymore, don’t you think that’s a bit excessive?
I think we should clarify this first: is this the first time? Or is this something they do regularly? If it’s the first time, say openly that you’re uncomfortable, and if they do it again, then you can make other plans, but let’s not get tense all at once. ![]()
