There are three of us in the apartment and I thought everyone took care of their own things. Recently, my kettle was missing, and then I saw on their story that my roommate used my kettle while filming a coffee video. Alright, I get it, borrowing is one thing, but it should be asked first. If I bring it up to their face, would they take offense? Or should I just take it back and put it away without saying anything?

6I used to suffer from the same issue in the past. This kind of situation always happens with roommates. In other words, someone inevitably takes your stuff without asking. But I wouldn’t stay silent about something like that. I’d go directly and ask, ‘Hey, I saw you using my stuff, it would have been better if I had known.’ Although, no one really starts a fight over such a conversation.
So, is this the first time it’s happening, or have you noticed them using your stuff without permission before? If it’s a recurring issue, I think you need to have a talk.
@asliyurt actually this isn’t the first time, there have been missing cups and things before, but I wasn’t completely sure and didn’t pursue it.
Yeah @evciadam, you say ‘I didn’t make a sound’, but as you keep doing that, people will never pay attention to you. The glass has already gone missing, now the kettle… if this keeps up, it will turn into bigger issues. I think you’re taking it too lightly.
Roommate relationships require discussing the rules from the start. If you make it a habit to use items without permission, it can lead to bigger problems later on. I suggest you sit down and talk about this calmly.
@duzendeviren come on, don’t take it so seriously. It’s just a kettle, after all. There’s no need to make such a big deal out of it. I think sometimes friends should overlook these little things for the sake of harmony.
