My skin is ruined by acne, should I stop using the filter?

I always share photos on Instagram with a filter because my skin is in really bad shape, and I get breakouts. But I want to come to terms with my real self now. Do you think people would perceive me negatively if I post a photo without a filter?

I think you have a situation where you don’t fully trust yourself. You want to let go of the filter, but what are your reservations? Acne is a normal thing for people; many go through it. But the way you worry about it makes me feel like there are some other concerns behind it, to be honest.

So why do you think using filters is such a bad thing? Everyone is already trying to show their best side on social media in some way. Either they’re doing makeup or adjusting the lighting. You might be being too hard on yourself

If acne keeps recurring and has become a serious issue, it might be hormonal or related to nutrition. Have you tried seeing a regular dermatologist? For such problems, they usually recommend topical treatments or medications. But definitely consult a specialist if you want, because it won’t just go away on its own.

I’ve realized that maybe I’m hesitant to let go out of fear of getting negative comments from those around me. I’ve talked about this with my close friends, but it felt like I received more criticism than support. That’s why I’ve been indecisive. I wanted to add this

I think you’ll feel more at ease the moment you let go of the filter topic. There might be some critics in the first few posts, but people get used to things faster than you think. I recommend looking into zinc supplements for your skin or directly visiting a dermatologist; it will be better for you in the long run.
