Saved the bag after eating chips at night

My girlfriend had said she decided to go on a diet, but when I went into the kitchen in the morning, I found a bag of chips hidden on the counter. She had eaten all of it at night and didn’t even tell me. I’m trying not to dwell on things like this, yet I can’t help but wonder, “why did she hide it?” What do you think this reaction is about? Is she feeling bad about herself?

I don’t get why you want to cause a scene just because someone had chips in the middle of the night. Just forget it, come on :woman_shrugging:

I had the same situation. My girlfriend secretly ate some cake during a sweet craving. Then we sat down and talked, and it turned out she was hiding it because she was mad at herself. I think you should ask her about it without making her feel that way :smiling_face_with_tear:

Are you living in the same house already? In such a case, why would they hide what they ate at night otherwise?

@cokdaseyapma yes, we are in the same house. It’s not the first time actually, there have been a few other instances of hiding like this.

@uykuarasi I don’t think the situation is that simple. There may also be a problem related to habits; saying we will diet and secretly snacking could be a sign of impulse control issues.

It’s normal to have these kinds of ‘slips’ while dieting, but what’s important is to conceal them. This might stem from feelings of guilt, which can create issues in terms of sustainability. Transitioning to a nutrition plan together could be a solution.

It’s normal to have this as an issue, but don’t go getting into a mood or anything like that. Blowing up small things like this can ruin the overall vibe of the relationship.

after all, the diet was his own request. I think you shouldn’t dwell on it so much; he must already regret it on his own.
