Hunger crises: control or concern? I'm questioning my own excesses

I’ve been having a lot of sweet cravings lately. Sometimes it’s just because I’m tired, and sometimes I eat without any excuse. But every once in a while, I stop and think, ‘Is this normal? Am I crossing a healthy boundary?’ I wonder if I’m being too hard on myself or if I’m losing control. How do you find balance in moments like these?

This happened to me too; especially during exam periods, I was practically living on sweets. Then I realized that the more my sleep schedule was disturbed, the more I craved them. I paid attention to my sleep for a while, and it gradually returned to normal.

There’s another situation here for me. Are you really feeling hungry, or are you clinging to something that makes you feel good? Could it be stemming from stress or a general sense of emptiness?

Before blaming yourself here, you need to look at the source of these sweet cravings. It’s very common for women to beat themselves up for living undisciplined lives. You don’t have to answer to anyone, balance is something you will define.

How often do those moments you call ‘eating without an excuse’ happen in a week? For instance, what times does it usually occur? Is it at night or something?

Honestly, it happens more in the evenings. I feel tired after work, I fill up on food, but then a craving for something sweet hits me. It also seems to get worse from time to time.

If it happens in the evenings, it could be this glucose fluctuation, especially if you’re loading up on carbs during the day. But sometimes these ‘sweet crises’ stem from hormonal issues, like insulin resistance. If it continues, I suggest you get a biochemical test.

If grown adults even consider eating sweets a problem, we’re in trouble. You’re exaggerating, just relax a bit. If you have some illness you don’t know about, a doctor will find it anyway.
