Is it better to set a reward day for yourself or to give up everything?

I’ve been doing well for a while now, but sometimes I wonder why I’m not having a reward day. On the other hand, it seems like that reward day would be the end of everything. Do you think this decision is part of continuing the diet or just an excuse?

I’ve experienced the same thing. When I was on a diet for a month, I had a reward day like that, and then I couldn’t get back on track for 3 days. I told myself, ‘it won’t hurt to have it just once,’ but that one time kept going. I think you should be very careful.

Reward days actually provide motivation, but the main issue here is portion control and planning. For example, allow yourself to indulge in one meal but not the whole day. Otherwise, it becomes much harder to get back on track the next day, as experienced :face_with_peeking_eye:

What kind of logic is this? If you’re already going on about how ‘the end of the day is reward day’ all by yourself, then that diet isn’t right. The main issue is sustainability, which is where you’re tripping up.

Let me add that I’m not going with a dietitian. I’m making my own plan. I’m actually scared of not being able to recover once I take a day off. Is there anyone who has tried it?

Look, this is actually a matter of discipline. There was a woman in our neighborhood who gained weight just by saying she would have a reward day. If a person can’t control themselves, they always end up going backward.

But the real issue here isn’t the award day; it’s your lack of confidence about that day. It feels to me like you have another doubt about sticking to the diet.
