I went to the hairdresser yesterday and told him, ‘just take a little bit off the ends.’ But the guy literally cut my hair in half! I was stunned when I saw it in the mirror. Of course, I couldn’t say anything there, but I felt completely down when I left. My friends say, ‘short looks more modern,’ but I can’t get used to it. Do you think I should just manage like this for a while, or would getting extensions be too obvious?

7It has happened to me many times too, honestly that shock in front of the mirror is a terrible thing. Especially if there’s a gap between what you imagined and what you see. When they referred to it as ‘modern,’ I felt even worse because you start questioning, ‘If this is modern, have I become outdated?’ You might endure it for a while and get yourself together, but if it really affects your morale, I think a change is better.
Well, you go to the hairdresser to get a little boost on the weekend, and when the result is the complete opposite, it feels like a blow. I once got my hair cut and ended up going through a month of depression, seriously. You can’t even leave the house, especially a different struggle at work. Your friends try to console you by saying it’s ‘modern,’ but it’s tough to get used to.
Recently, my husband said to me, ‘Have you really gone that far with the ends?’ I laughed so hard that it almost made me mad! Hairdressers treat cutting the ends like it’s some different art form, which is normal, I guess. Honestly, if you did extensions directly, I don’t think anyone would notice.
But also, question yourself a bit. You said extremes, let’s say they cut too much; it would have been necessary to intervene immediately there. Not saying anything and then complaining doesn’t make sense to me. Resources are expensive and you might end up unhappy again.
@ters_kose actually, if I said something there, I got even more scared, thinking he might get angry and cut it even shorter. Plus, it was really crowded, I didn’t want to talk in front of everyone with all its ups and downs ![]()
But for example, even here the topic turns to a woman’s morale being related to her hair. Is it for the approval of the observer, or for the person to feel good when looking in the mirror? It can be a short source or a long one. Just because your friends said it has become modern, that doesn’t mean it’s the right decision.
@mesafe_emekci Is a month of depression a bit exaggerated? When someone leaves the hairdresser, they find short-term solutions like extensions or masks, and life goes on. Depression, on the other hand, is a different matter; this kind of thing happens to dozens of women.
