The kitchen window has been left open, and the items have rotted.

My roommate always leaves the window open while cooking in the kitchen. Okay, sometimes it needs to air out, but they leave it open so much that my stuff has started to get damp. There’s even a musty smell in the cabinets. I’ve told them countless times, but it’s still the same. What would you do in my situation? Is there a way to resolve this without fighting?

There was the same issue in our old house. The pans we washed started to rust, you know. I spoke directly, politely but firmly. It honestly got a bit better.

Are all the windows open, or just the kitchen window? Is there humidity all over the house? Are you exaggerating a bit? I don’t really understand that either.

@pazardandondum it’s just the window in the kitchen, but it’s been left open for days. It’s especially worse in winter. There’s not as much of a problem in other rooms.

@bugun_degil couldn’t you find another solution instead of talking directly about this? I think a fight might break out. Not everyone reacts well to clear statements.

an open window doesn’t actually increase humidity, unless it’s very humid outside. however, if the indoor temperature of the house is dropping, condensation can occur. it would also be good if more dry air could enter the cupboard.

Why has this topic grown so much? I think it could be solved by putting drying bags in the kitchen cabinets.

I want a bit clearer information; what is being cooked that requires so much glass to be opened? Is it such a big meal, or are they constantly making fragrant things?

Speak up. It won’t get better otherwise.
