My skin has gotten really bad, will my boyfriend notice?

I’ve had incredible acne on my face in recent months, and nothing I’ve tried has helped. I’m going around like this, but I can’t stop thinking to myself, ‘I wonder if he notices it, is he bothered by it?’ Should I tell him and try to find a solution, or should I act like he hasn’t noticed? I’m really stuck on this.

I used to have full-blown acne on my face from stress for a while; I seriously didn’t want to see myself in the mirror. My boyfriend noticed it, of course, but without me saying anything, he suggested, “If you want, we can see a doctor.” So I think you should just open up and talk; it seems like a lot of people don’t really care.

You should go directly to a dermatologist. In such a case, wasting time with home remedies makes things worse. You can even get a dermatology appointment with the state and request a referral to a private specialist.

I think your girlfriend might not want to show that she feels uncomfortable even if she notices. But rather than just being concerned about whether she ‘notices it,’ there could be another worry underlying that. Maybe it’s not just about appearances, but about how you feel.

I don’t get it, why does everyone say just confess to your crush? If the guy doesn’t notice, aren’t you just creating problems for yourself? Plus, pimples are a natural thing, it’s kind of weird to blow it out of proportion like this :grimacing:

You mentioned that the acne started in recent months; it could likely be hormonal or stress-related. However, to be sure of an underlying cause, you should get a blood test and consult a dermatologist. Especially if it’s on the cheeks and chin area, hormonal acne is more probable.

Let me add that I have a lot on my cheeks, and this never happened before. I can’t even apply foundation because it seems to make it worse :grimacing:

The real issue here is how you see yourself. Even if your partner feels uncomfortable, they shouldn’t imply anything about the natural changes in your body. That’s not your responsibility; it’s a matter of their understanding :woman_facepalming:

It’s really hard to go out with pimples on your face and to be reminded of it every time you look in the mirror. When you add the stress of wondering what others think, it becomes an even heavier burden. I completely understand you, but you’ll need to find a way to tackle it for a definitive solution.

But are you overthinking it a bit too much? If someone approaches their partner in such a depleted way, they might eventually get tired of it. You need to focus on your own self-confidence first.
