The pressure to get likes on social media is suffocating me!

I care a lot about the likes on the photos I share on social media. I check them dozens of times a day, and if I don’t get likes, I feel really overwhelmed. Is there a way to get over this? My friends also criticize me about it.

I think you’re overreacting, it’s normal.

I had a similar period, I was happy with every like, but when they decreased, my mood would drop. At some point, I started to let it go.

By the way, is it only social media that is this effective? Do you generally expect approval from people?

@biseydiycem it’s not an exaggeration, it’s serious for the person experiencing it, belittling it is unnecessary.

@yazipsildim actually I’m only like this on social media, I don’t really care in real life.

I think algorithms are getting you to this point; you’ve unknowingly drifted into dopamine addiction. A bit of social media detox wouldn’t hurt.

So sure, the algorithm is effective, but people also put themselves in this mindset. Why are you so hung up on getting likes when you post the photo? If you didn’t assign so much meaning to it from the start, it would sort itself out naturally.

It seems like it’s not that easy to resolve those issues, because that mindset is already caught up in wondering whether it will be “liked” while sharing. The real question is: is this situation only with you, or does your environment feel the same way? It could also be a concern about being in a group setting.
