I said I would eat salad while dining out with my boyfriend, but I couldn’t say no to a pizza on the table. My friend then pulled the table and posted it on their story. Someone in the diet group noticed it and immediately wrote about it. I was so embarrassed. My boyfriend laughed and said, ‘diet game diet.’ I want to get back on a diet, but I feel pressure as if someone is constantly watching. Do you think I should ignore these things?

9Oh, I’ve been in the same situation! I went to the opening of a cafe last month, and my plan was to stick to vegetable smoothies, but I couldn’t resist when I saw the cheesecake at the buffet. Then the group at the gym noticed. They directly teased me, saying, ‘You can’t recover with that many calories!’ I ignored them, and I recommend that. Otherwise, you’ll drive yourself crazy.
So, have you talked to those people in the diet group before? I mean, do you have a closeness that’s enough for them to pressure you like this?
@zeynep1998 actually, I’m new to this group, it’s been about two weeks. We didn’t have any conversations before.
@elisaylmz but there are places where others are right. So you want to both join the group and say everyone should have their personal space, how is that going to work? If you’re starting a diet, it requires a bit of seriousness.
There is a way to balance personal space and social responsibility. When eating in a group, peer pressure becomes inevitable, but cheating does not mean failure in your diet. There’s no need to be judgmental like before; focus on finding balance. However, if you constantly feel pressured, this group may not be right for you.
Well guys, to be honest, I love when someone comments on a story through someone else (!). It’s not anyone’s place to criticize people’s personal decisions. Eating the pizza on the table is your choice; the others were just trying to control it. It would be so much better if everyone minded their own business.
But by joining there, aren’t you kind of saying ‘watch me’? I’m sure they didn’t do it with bad intentions. I think you should relax a bit too; you seem really stressed trying to hide so much.
So it seems like there was a lot of drama. What if pizza appeared in the story? Are people stalking 24/7? I think the diet group is just terrifying.
@selinsunum I think those getting involved in the stories have gone a bit overboard as well, but it feels like some sort of agreement has been made since it’s a diet group. Still, I don’t think criticizing people this much is a sign of discipline.
