Story of an ex saying 'you're very beautiful'

The other day I was looking at notifications on my girlfriend’s phone, and she had written something in a DM on a story. I opened it and read it. Her ex had posted a story, and she commented “you’re very beautiful”. I asked her about it, and she said, “it’s nothing, I just wrote it, don’t read too much into it.” Am I wrong to think about this? It feels like she’s treating me like a fool, but she claims she just wrote it for fun. What do you think should happen next?

I think these kinds of things are a modern relationship disease. The fact that complimenting someone has become so easy and ‘meaningless’ is just ridiculous. If you say something playful to them and they respond seriously, they are either thoughtless or they don’t respect you. Think of yourself first.

I was curious, is your boyfriend usually this relaxed? Does he casually flirt with everyone like this, or is he only laid-back with his ex?

@iki_dakika actually doesn’t have this habit very often; he is usually a quiet person, but this situation bothered me. There was also an issue related to his ex-girlfriend before, it was a small thing but it had stuck in my mind at that time too.

I was going to say, don’t blow everything out of proportion here, but messaging an ex is a different story. If they’re writing for fun, then that’s a very strange understanding of ‘fun.’ It’s not normal among people who respect each other.

Maybe it’s just a compliment. In some old relationships, people act like that to avoid a bad ending. But how you feel is what matters. If you’re uncomfortable, cut off the conversation or ask them to be more straightforward.

Meaningless. The man’s excuse is even ridiculous. Don’t just say it and move on.

@yazipsildim I disagree with this, sending a message doesn’t necessarily imply something. Also, he already asked his girlfriend, and the guy answered clearly. Everyone is in mind-reading mode; I think everyone should chill a bit
