Is there something you can never resist while dieting?

I’m starting my diet on Monday, but my chocolate cravings are killing me. I literally cannot give up chocolate in my life. I can’t even explain how upset I get when my friend says, ā€˜I can live without sweets.’ Do you have things you just can’t give up too? Or am I just too weak in this regard?

When I started my diet, I experienced chocolate cravings. That’s when I realized that I actually crave chocolate not because I’m hungry, but when I’m stressed. At one point, my blood sugar was unstable, and the doctor told me I had insulin resistance. So, getting a test done might help.

Sweet cravings can actually stem from sudden fluctuations in blood sugar levels. This could be due to insulin resistance or a diet heavy in carbohydrates. Adding balanced protein and fiber can significantly help to balance sweet cravings. However, it’s important to consult a dietitian for definite advice.

Actually, it’s really common, you know? I mean, when you tell someone to ā€œput down the sweets,ā€ they react as if you’re going to make them drink their tea without sugar. I’m also a chocolate addict, but I’ve learned that it’s not a lack of willpower, it’s a habit. Especially during my school years, there was always chocolate around, for example.

You’ve been upset because your friend is living without sweets, but I don’t think it needs to be blown out of proportion. Not everyone has to love sweets. To me, the issue is that at that moment, you’re emotionally attached to something else. Otherwise, it seems like there wouldn’t be a crisis over sweets.

As you said, I’ve actually noticed that I eat more chocolate when I’m angry or unhappy. I don’t know if it’s out of boredom, but at that moment I don’t think about eating anything else. It seems psychological, but I couldn’t figure it out :woman_shrugging:

If you’re a bit skilled, you can try healthy recipes that substitute chocolate. For example, there are desserts made with cocoa and bananas that satisfy your sweet cravings. You can even buy dark chocolate from the store; since it’s low in grams, just a piece is enough.
