My hair is falling out a lot, should I see a doctor?

Lately, I’m really scared to comb my hair because it comes out in handfuls. I don’t know if it’s stress or vitamin deficiency, but when I see a clump of hair in the shower, it breaks my heart. Am I overreacting, or should I really see a doctor? Will it fix itself?

You say a bit is falling out in the shower, but was it like this before? I mean, did it normally fall out less when you were brushing or washing it, for example? How many months has this situation been going on?

Without further ado, I think you should go see a dermatologist. The doctor will do a hair analysis to check if there’s a deficiency in biotin or iron. If there’s an issue inside, shampoo and such can only help so much.

Now we’re going to come up with excuses like stress, but do you pay attention to your hair care routine? For instance, constant heat styling and tight hairstyles can directly cause hair loss. Honestly, it could be from that.

Have you ever tried those trendy hair masks that everyone is talking about? I always hear that they’re recommending things like argan oil. You know, sometimes it’s not about medicinal stuff but just hair care.

If a small amount of hair loss exceeds the norm, there is usually an underlying health issue. It’s necessary to check blood values because vitamin deficiency or hormonal changes can also cause hair loss. A dermatologist would be the best starting point.

Let me add that I’ve been using a bit too much straightener lately, so my hair has become damaged, but I don’t know if it’s as harmful as it looks. The part about vitamin deficiency has been lingering in my mind now :grimacing:

When you say this to me, it feels like I’m holding everything in my hands. It wouldn’t surprise anyone, but it’s all related to shedding; care, workload, maybe hormone balance, all of it is connected. The pressure on women to ‘look well-groomed’ plays a role here too. It never lets us be at ease. Don’t tire yourself out so much first; then, of course, going to the doctor is your right.
